Jack Fertility Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2025
Introduction
Hello, welcome to Jack Fertility’s Privacy Policy. We know these things can be long and dull, so we’ve written this in a clear, layered format. You can skim the headlines or dive into the details that matter most to you.
Your trust matters to us. By using our services you’re choosing to share personal and sensitive health data. We take that responsibility seriously and are committed to safeguarding your rights and information.
⚠️ Important note
Jack Fertility’s service is for people with sperm who want to learn more about their reproductive health. It is intended solely for wellness purposes, not for clinical diagnosis. Test results are provided for information only and should not replace advice from a healthcare professional. Due to natural variations in semen parameters, results from Jack Fertility may differ from semen analysis results you have received in the past, or may receive in the future.

-
Directly from you - when you sign up, place an order, provide health information, or contact us
-
Automatically - via cookies or analytics when you use our site (only with your consent for non-essential cookies)
-
From service partners - for example, laboratories processing your sample, couriers delivering kits, or payment providers
Why we use your data (lawful bases)
We only process your data when the law allows.
Provide our services
Examples: processing orders, shipping kits, analysing samples, delivering results, responding to queries
Lawful basis: Contract (necessary to perform the agreement we have with you)
Healthcare-related processing
Examples: laboratory analysis, quality control, re-tests, results communications

Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (ensuring security and improving our services, balanced against your rights). For analytics cookies, we also rely on your consent where required.

Examples: record keeping, safety reports, responding to regulators
Lawful basis: Legal obligation (to comply with UK law and healthcare regulations)
Marketing
Examples: newsletters, offers, product updates
Lawful basis: Consent, or soft opt-in under PECR (which allows us to contact existing customers about similar products or services without separate consent). In all cases, you will always have a clear option to opt out.
We will never sell your personal data.
Sharing your data
We may share your data with trusted partners who help us deliver our service, such as:
-
Accredited labs (to assist us in analysing your sample)
-
Couriers (to deliver and return kits)
-
Secure payment providers
-
IT, hosting and analytics providers
-
Professional advisers (such as lawyers, auditors, insurers)
All partners act under our instructions and are bound by confidentiality and data protection laws. We may also share data if required by law, regulator, or court order.
If Jack Fertility is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the new owner. In line with GDPR transparency requirements, we will post a notice on our website and, where feasible, notify you directly so you remain informed.
Research use of data
We believe fertility research is vital, but your privacy comes first.
-
We may use fully anonymised data for research and statistical purposes
-
We will never re-identify anonymised data
-
If we ever want to use your identifiable data for research, we will ask for your explicit consent first
How long we keep things
-
Samples: destroyed typically within 2 days of arrival at our lab.
-
Test results and health records: kept for up to 10 years in line with UK healthcare record-keeping norms, unless a shorter or longer period is legally required. This ensures we can comply with legal, regulatory, and quality standards.
-
Marketing data: kept until you unsubscribe. We usually keep a minimal suppression record (just your email address) so you don’t get contacted again by mistake. If you prefer complete erasure, just let us know.
Afterwards, we securely delete or anonymise data.
International transfers
We process data primarily in the UK. Some service providers may be located outside the UK/EEA (such as cloud or analytics providers). Whenever data is transferred internationally, we ensure safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions, so your rights remain protected.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
-
Access the data we hold about you
-
Correct or erase your data
-
Restrict or object to processing
-
Data portability - request a copy of your data in a portable format
-
Withdraw consent at any time (for marketing or research)
To exercise your rights, email us at privacy@jackfertility.co.uk. We may ask for ID to protect your information.
👉 If you unsubscribe from marketing, we keep a minimal suppression record (usually just your email address) to make sure we don’t contact you again by mistake. No other personal information is stored for this purpose. If you would prefer complete deletion instead of suppression, just let us know.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk.
Data security
We use strong technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption, secure servers, and restricted access.
Because we handle sensitive health information, we apply extra safeguards. Samples are pseudonymised with a unique code (a barcode that has no meaning outside our system). Test kits we receive carry no personally identifiable information such as your name or address. The code is used throughout the analysis process, and results are only re-identified when a limited number of authorised personnel link the code back to your account details in our secure system.
We have procedures for handling suspected breaches. If a personal data breach occurs, we will follow GDPR requirements by notifying the ICO within 72 hours (where required) and informing affected users without undue delay if the breach is likely to put their rights or freedoms at high risk.
Automated decision-making
Jack Fertility does not use automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you. Some features of our service may provide automated insights, such as trend analysis or personalised educational content based on your test results. These are designed to support your understanding of your reproductive health, not to make decisions for you. All clinically significant decisions remain the responsibility of qualified professionals and/or the individual user.
Cookies
We use two types of cookies on our website:
-
Essential cookies - required for the site to function (e.g. remembering your login or keeping items in your basket).
-
Optional cookies - including analytics and marketing cookies, which help us understand how our site is used and improve your experience. These are only used with your consent.
You can change your cookie settings at any time via our cookie banner or browser settings.
External links
If you follow links to other sites from our website, your data will be subject to their privacy policies. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your data.
Your responsibilities
We rely on you to provide accurate personal details and to ensure any samples you send are genuinely yours and given with consent. This helps us deliver the best possible service and keep your results reliable. Where information or samples are false, misleading, or unauthorised, Jack Fertility cannot be held responsible for issues that arise.
Changes to this notice
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.
